Viral fever is identified to be often triggered by the airborne carriers of a wide range of infections, which means this is the result of the infection that we tend to catch from the air that we breathe. This could also be caused by some waterborne viruses, as well as sometimes by coming in personal contact with someone already suffering from viral.

Readily available and free from any side effects, these natural herbs and home remedies have been extremely effective in combating the various complications arising out of viral fever.

The herb of Tinospora which is also known as Giloy or Guduchi, has been known to be extremely effective in case of fever, infections and various chronic complications associated with these. The word Giloy itself stands for ‘amrit’, or what we call the ‘elixir or life’. No wonder why it has been one of the most valued herbs as recognized by the system of Ayurveda. The Giloy leaves have various therapeutic properties, such as being antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, detoxifier, rejuvenative, analgesic, anti-stress, anti-cancer etc. However, it has best been known for its immune-modulatory functions. Being both preventive as well as curative in nature, it works as a natural means to boost our immune system. Its regular consumption leads to a significant increase in the WBC count, which eventually results in improved resistance to a variety of disease-carrying agents. Simply consuming about 1-2 grams of this herb twice a day is sufficient. Apart from treating chronic fever, Giloy also reduces the symptoms of stress and anxiety, moderates premature signs of ageing and exhibits some incredible gastrointestinal protective properties.

Chaval Ka Paani / Maand (Rice Starch)

Rice starch happens to be another great natural remedy for viral. This is natural, nourishing and helps boost our immune system. Taking approximately half a cup of the same on an empty stomach in the morning supports respite from the viral fever.

People have since long been taking Tulsi leaves in order to find relief from the symptoms of viral. A nice, warm herbal decoction made using some 5 -10 fresh leaves of tulsi or Holy Basil, offers a variety of benefits, owing to its anti-bacterial, anti-biotic and germicidal properties. You may add half to one spoonful of clove powder while the leaves are boiling.

Dhaniya (Coriander Seeds)

Boiling a tablespoon of coriander seeds in about one glass of water, straining it and allowing it to cool gives us what is known as a healing fever – solution. Also known as coriander tea, it contains a variety of antibiotics, vitamins as well as phytonutrients which go a long way in giving our immune system a good boost.

Methi Dana (Fenugreek Seeds)

Methi dana or Fenugreek seed water is another drink which helps in reducing the fever and other symptoms associated with the viral fever. Simply soak about one tablespoon of the fenugreek seeds overnight in half a cup of water. Strain the seeds in the morning and the leftover solution is ready for consumption. For better taste and results, we may also add some lemon juice or honey to it.

Lahsun (Garlic)

Garlic or Lahsun is another great herbal therapy for viral infection. You may try taking the same as it is in its crushed form, or add it sliced or pounded to warm, freshly prepared soups. Garlic is loaded with natural properties of being anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral.

Adrak (Ginger)

The anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties of Ginger that help fight cold, cough and fever are long known to us. Ginger therefore is relieving in the viral fever when taken in the form of freshly prepared tea, decoction or grated and juiced as a potion with some honey mixed into it.

Khichadi – The Natural Food

Warm, soothing home-made food such as khichdi is also highly effective during those days. This can be combined with supportive spices and herbs like mint, black pepper, ajwain (carom seeds), ginger etc.
