Adult Beginner Ballet Fitness:

​

Get your clients fit with basic ballet and beginner dance exercises and skills. Each a variety of ballet-based fitness protocols that include barre and center exercises, across-the-floor movement sequences, a beginner dance combination and yoga postures for dance conditioning. You will study the theoretical concepts of feminine pedagogy, layered learning and psychological muscle function. Also included is a series of somatic inquiries that will help reconnect the body and self.

 

Course Objective:

  •   Explain the general mind-body benefits of participating in a dance-exercise program.

  •   Identify and describe the two alignment perception strategies.

  •   Identify and describe the four stages of sensori-motor learning.

  •   Define feminist pedagogy.

  •   Identify the body’s three balance strategies and explain why the ankle strategy is optimal.

  •   Define layered learning.

  •   Describe psychological muscle function and give two examples.

  •   To identify and describe the 4 types of feedback, and to use each type appropriately.

This inspirational course combines balanced movement, grace and flow, mind-body techniques and core strength. It features 16 basic Pilates mat exercises and yoga as a form of body-sculpt. Assist your clients to cultivate personal transformation through awareness and self-discovery!

  •   Identify the most common asymmetrical pattern in the human body.

  •   Define the term 'good use' and explain why it becomes more important as we go.

  •   Identify the primary core musculature that determines the body's basic posture.

  •   Use twelve key bony landmarks as a cueing strategy.

  •   Use three key anatomical lines as a cueing strategy.

  •   Use the base of support as a cueing strategy.

  •   Create and use imagery (visualization) as a cueing strategy.

  •   Teach sixteen simplified basic pilates mat work exercises.

  •   Understand the differences between Classical and Operant Conditioning.

Pro - Active Postural Restriction:

​

Techniques in this program are designed to affect and change the body gestalt, both in overall appearance and anatomical function. LindaChristy shares with you the seven principles of proactive postural restructuring (PPR) and introduces you to the PPR technique that involves floor, seated and standing preventative and corrective movement patterns. You’ll learn specific positions, movements and movement patterns to help students connect with the somatic sensations associated with basic movements of the hips, ankles and feet as well as identify where they hold habitual and localized tension. A gradual presentation of more complex and difficult patterns will be introduced.
