Personal Trainer

​

What is it?

​

Personal Trainer Certification Online is AFAA's premiere eAFAA course, combining the industry leading personal trainer certification standards with the convenience of independent self study, and the security of third-party monitoring and authenticating systems.

Composed of a series of 14 video lectures, the course meets the rigorous criteria established by the National Board of Fitness Examiners (NBFE), and is the industry's first fully online secure, credible and convenient course for personal trainer certification. The course includes an online, third-party monitored multiple-choice exam, as well as an online practical exam, given by an AFAA instructor utilizing AFAA's proprietary, secure Multitraining Live® web-conferencing system.

Learn at your own pace with 14 dynamic streaming video lectures, a downloadable study guide, and sample multiple choice questions. Then watch a series of short video lecture review clips to refresh your memory on key points of the video lectures.

In addition, course participants have face-to-face online access to AFAA instructors through Multitraining Live®, AFAA's interactive, live one-on-one (or group) video web conferencing system. Included with the course is one 50 minute-long group Multitraining Live® session, with additional 50 minute one-on-one sessions available for $40/ea.

Upon completion of the course, including watching all 14 streaming video lectures, participants will take an independently monitored two-hour, 120 question multiple choice exam, followed by an independently monitored practical exam with an AFAA instructor, all online!

This course must be completed within one (1) year of the enrollment date. You may extend your enrollment term for $40.

Currently certified AFAA instructors will earn 15 CEU credits upon the successful completion of this course. To successfully pass this course, participants must pass both the multiple-choice and practical examinations, and provide current CPR certification.*

* As of January 2011, AFAA requires all new certification participants, as well as re-certifiers within the United States and Canada, to show proof of both a CPR and AED certification. CPR and AED certifications from online or home-study courses will not be accepted.

Who is it for?

​

For the aspiring to the experienced fitness professional working one-on-one with exercise clients.

Participants must be at least 18 years of age.

Weight room/weight training experience is strongly recommended.

CPR certification is required before Personal Trainer certification is issued.

What are technical requirement?

  • A reliable computer running Windows XP (or newer), or Mac OS X (or higher) with 256 MB of RAM or more

  • High speed internet

  • A web browser with Adobe Flash Player installed (We recommend Flash Player 10. Get it here.)

  • A webcam with 640x480 video pixel resolution

  • A microphone connected to the computer

  • (We recommend using a web cam with a built in microphone.)

  • Headphones or working speakers connected to the computer

  • A printer

  • The ability to allow Virtual Network Computing (VNC) connections to the computer you will be monitored from (This process entails allowing third party service to monitor and access your computer screen while you take your exams, as well as watching you via your webcam.)

Primary Group Exercise

​

What is it?

​

Primary Group Exercise Certification Online is AFAA's premiere eAFAA course, combining the fitness industry's leading group exercise certification standards with the convenience of independent self-study, and the security of third-party monitoring and authenticating systems.

Learn at your own pace with 14 dynamic streaming video lectures, a downloadable study guide, and sample multiple-choice questions. The course includes an online, third-party monitored multiple-choice exam, as well as an online practical exam, given by an AFAA instructor utilizing AFAA's proprietary, secure Multitraining Live® web-conferencing system.

In addition, course participants have face-to-face online access to AFAA instructors through Multitraining Live®, AFAA's interactive, live one-on-one (or group) video web-conferencing system. No exercise equipment is necessary. Exercises will be demonstrated utilizing a variety of portable fitness equipment.
